3 Exercises to Heal Stiff Shoulders

Updated: Aug 29, 2023

I didn't want to live with stiff shoulders anymore and you don't have to either.

Every month, each week and almost every day, I sit at my desk. And with each day, my lower back rounds another half inch and shoulders cave in a bit more. I tend to make a halfhearted effort to reposition every hour or so but by the end of my week, my shoulders (not to mentioned back and neck) have been cramped in the same unnatural position for roughly HOURS and they HURT.

Before I became a personal trainer, I was at a loss of what to do. See an expensive chiropractor? Go to acupuncture? Meditate?

While all of those things could potentially help alleviate pain, I've finally learned how to directly address it.

So what should YOU do? I recommend STARTING with 2-3 minutes of joint mobility each day.

Why? Because chronic stiffness is generally due to LACK OF MOVEMENT.. and mobility IS the movement.

So what is joint mobility?

When joints LOSE their range of movement, this is when stiffness can occur.

The good news is that it only takes a few minutes of each day to find relief.

I recommend starting with these 3 exercises daily:

I promise you'll find relief after consistent daily practice of only a couple minutes of day! I know I did.

If you have a bit more time than 1-2 minutes, check out my 10 minute upper body stretch routine below, too! I do this routine almost every day, and it's incredibly helpful for feeling loose, mobile and pain free.
